The Shooting Diva Journey

Hi! Welcome to The Shooting Diva website! We are excited to have you here. Our journey has been a fun one. I’ll be honest, prior to 2011 I was scared of guns. My Dad had firearms in the house when we were growing up, but we did not learn how to shoot them. Safety was always #1 in the house, and we were not curious, but we did not learn how to properly handle them, or that target shooting could be so much fun.

The first time I remember shooting a gun was in basic training for the Air Force in 1997. I was issued a firearm during my 1st deployment overseas, in 2007, but it was just an “extension of my uniform” so to speak. Yes, I was trained to shoot the firearm and had to qualify at the shooting range, but this was the first time I carried a firearm at all, let alone on a daily basis. During that deployment I would ask others who were very familiar with firearms to clean my weapon. Afterall, I was a Healthcare Administrator, not a Policeman.

Fast forward to 2011 as I was preparing for my second deployment overseas. I was informed that this time I would also have to carry a firearm and it was a little more serious this time. During a road trip with my Husband, our kids, and my Husband’s Uncle, we stopped at a shooting range. I thought “what the heck, I need to familiarize myself with a 9mm handgun anyway.” I’m sure you can see where I am going with this… we started target shooting at the range and I fell in love with it! I was pretty good at it, too! After that road trip, I took a basic pistol safety course prior to my deployment and I was – you guessed it – PREPARED for my deployment. I was comfortable carrying my firearm; I was comfortable cleaning my own firearm; I RESPECTED the firearm at all times. Did I ever have to shoot my gun? No, thank goodness; but if I would have had to, I felt confident that I could.

Between 2011 and now, I have enjoyed target shooting with firearms and have enjoyed shooting archery as well. I am still working on my rifle and shotgun skills and am constantly learning about the industry. I have been searching for my “purpose”, which brings me here… to you. You are my purpose! I want to empower people. My original goal was to provide a store that both men and women can shop at, and it would cater more to the women than your typical gun store might. Now the goal is even better. We are focusing on education. Education is empowerment. We will still do specialty orders and FFL transfers; however, our main focus will be education.

Thank you for joining us in our ongoing journey! We are excited that you have come along for the ride with us and hope our products bring joy to your shooting experience!
